چکیده

Abstract LARES 2, successfully launched on July 13, 2022, is a new generation laser-ranged satellite. an acronym for LAser RElativity Satellite. The first satellite was February 2012 with the ESA-ASI-AVIO launch vehicle VEGA. 2 injected extremely high precision onto high-altitude orbit at about 5900 km altitude VEGA C. Laser-ranged satellites have many applications, including to test Einstein’s theory of general relativity. main relativistic phenomenon that will accuracy dragging inertial frames, or frame-dragging. It also other aspects and principles fundamental physics relativity, such as weak equivalence principle foundation viable gravitational theories. Frame-dragging name Einstein himself gave in 1913 intriguing relativity which implies current mass-energy, rotation body, generate spacetime curvature. has key role energy astrophysics, e.g., waves by collision two black holes form rotating hole. Earth measured few percent combining data LARES, LAGEOS (Ciufolini et al. Eur Phys J C 79:872, 2019). thanks its injection precision, projected improve frame-dragging least order magnitude. relevant applications space geodesy geodynamics, study shape determination International Terrestrial Reference Frame (ITRF) improving center mass contributing better axis.

After a brief introduction on the scientific objectives of the LARES/WEBER-SAT satellite we present the recent measurement of the Lense-Thirring effect using the nodes of the LAGEOS and LAGEOS 2 satellites and using the Earth gravity model EIGENGRACE02S obtained by the GRACE space mission, we also include some determination of the rate of change of the lowest order Earth's even zonal harmonics....

On the orbit of the LARES satellite

This paper is motivated by the recent possibility to find an inexpensive launching vehicle for the LARES satellite, however at an altitude much lower than originally planned for the LAGEOS III/LARES satellite. We present here a preliminary error analysis corresponding to a lower, quasi-polar, orbit, in particular we analyze the effect on the LARES node of the Earth’s static gravitational field,...
